Getting to Moreton Island
The only way you can see Morton Island is by 4 wheel drive vehicle. The island is way to large and rugged to explore on foot in any practical time frame and there is no real road system that allows for regular cars or buses.
If you don't own a four wheel drive, then the next best option by far is a camping safari or a day tour in specialised converted vehicles.
Day trips can usually cover the must see highlights of the island in a single day. Camping safaris are best though, allowing you to immerse your self in natural wonders of the island, whilst giving you access to the many wonderful sights and activities that cannot be reached in any other way. There are only a handful of companies that offer camping safaris and day trips to Moreton Island.
This site recommends Moreton Bay Escapes and Bushwhacker Eco tours both who have a long establishment with the island over many years offering a variety of camping and day tours to both Moreton Island and its larger sister, Fraser Island to the north.
There are details of these two companies which can be found on the menu bar to the right. Both companies enjoy an excellent reputation for their collective knowledge of the island, combined with all inclusive eco camping tours that provide you with an entertaining and informative experience of the Island and all it has to offer.
